10:09 pm - Dec. issue of GameCola is up!
There's a new issue of GameCola up! This is my way of letting you, my best friends, know. And here's a preview of what you can see in this month's issue, copy-and-pasted from my "Dear Readers" column:
  •  We have reviews of all three classic Super Mario Bros. games! All written by the same person!

  • That person, Meteo, also reviewed indie puzzler Chains this month, which means that he's written more reviews by himself for this issue than some issues have had total.

  • Michael Gray tells us what you can do to get us more readers in "Pimp My 'Cola" and shows us fan mail he's received for his walkthroughs in "Inside the Guide."

  • Vangie's boyfriend makes a huge Chrono Trigger-related blunder in "Gamer Girlfriend."

  • Matt Gardner talks about how awesome I am in "...of the Month"! That's always enough to get a shout out here

  • And, because I guess December is Opposite Month, we've got a column from reviewer Zach Rich, and reviews from columnists Richo Rosai and Michael Gray. Is this what insanity feels like?

  • But wait, there's more! This month in "Versus Mode," we've got a special guest star: Brendan Becker, organizer and owner of the MAGFest videogame convention. If you're still on the fence about attending MAGFest in January, lemme just say that the people who perform this song are gonna be there.

My favorite professor at UMD is teaching a course in the psychology of video games, and I'm not there anymore? This is the worst day of my life.

I bought this decoration last year, but, at the time, I didn't have the means to film it.

I now have such means.

Enjoy.

Remember when I made that post about moving out of my parents house and into a new apartment in central Jersey? (I do, because I just checked my LJ to see when I last updated.) (Also, screw central Jersey---unlike South, it doesn't get to be capitalized.) (I've grown way too accustomed to being able to use footnotes in my GameCola articles, and now my extraneous thoughts don't know what to do with themselves.) (I guess I should just start a new paragraph.)

Anyway! I moved again, and this time I'm living in New Haven, Connecticut---which, as many of you may be noticing, is in an entirely different state. My S.O. got into Yale's graduate/doctoral program for Music Theory, and hey, there wasn't anything keeping us in Princeton, anyway, record stores selling 3-dollar used DVDs aside. So now we're here, and I'm working from home in the same job I had before.

Hello, LJ! I remember when I used to update you.

I saw this sign in a Costa Rican bathroom. I think it says that you can feel free to wash your clowns there.

Who do I know that has a videogame-related Web site or blog or is otherwise involved in videogames? I just had a cool idea for one of our columns at GameCola.

Two people called me on my work phone today. One asked how my lovely sister was doing, and the other asked to speak to Uncle Andrew. P.S., I don't have a sister or an uncle named Andrew.

It (with "it" referring to "whenever you happen to be wasting your day on LiveJournal") is time for one more edition of the hespi-regular but enormously entertaining and highly anticipated feature that's too amazing to really be called a mere "feature" but should, rather, be known as "an explosion of greatness" that those in these parts (with "those in these parts" referring to "me") call:

Five Things Going on in My Life Right Now )

current music: Amber Pacific - Fall Back into My Life
